45 Years
Written by Board Member Jacqueline Reynolds
for Jane Addams Senior Caucus on its 45th Anniversary
Little lady named Ruth that started it all,
45 years later, still standing tall.
And when we rally to make things right,
You best believe we give a good fight.
Inspired by others with the friendship we share,
Making things easier because we care.
We grow in numbers to make us strong,
45 years later we refuse to go wrong.
Our intentions are good,
With our community in mind,
We seniors are valued,
We are all one of a kind.
We achieve in places not yet known,
Our intentions are good and that’s what makes us strong.
45 years things set in motion, one day at a time
We should fight
and if we don’t get what’s right,
We shut it down!
When celebrating 45 years of greatness,
We feel so emotional it brings us to tears.
We win we in wherever we go,
Passing laws and making a show.
From Washington DC to City Hall,
We show up in numbers that make us strong and tall.
And when one of us speaks, we always unite
Standing in unity and showing up right.
Seniors vote because we care
Shaping our country in every way.
45 years of life lessons,
45 years of confronting politicians,
45 years of marching and chanting,
45 years of being united!
We are celebrating 45 years of love.
Thank you Ruth!
