What’s at stake?
Right now, corporations, the 1%, and their rich friends in the Senate are blocking voting rights, shielding themselves from paying taxes, watering down President Biden's historic infrastructure plan, and preventing a transition to renewable energy.
We can’t wait. While Democrats in Washington try for bi-partisan agreement, people in our communities are suffering.
It’s time for Democrats to deliver on their campaign promises, no excuses:
Expand voting rights, get money out of politics and end gerrymandering
Paid family leave
Major investments to reduce child poverty, provide childcare for families and home care for seniors
Providing clean water for all and affordable housing
Climate action, green energy, and jobs, with a focus on racial justice
Why are we speaking to Senator Durbin?
Senator Durbin’s legacy will be determined by his leadership in this historic moment. We’re calling on him to oppose the Jim Crow filibuster in any form, strengthen voting rights, and oppose bipartisan compromise on infrastructure that won’t provide the scale of jobs, care, and climate solutions we need.
As the assistant majority leader, Senator Durbin is the second most powerful Democrat in the US Senate and is responsible for leading on strategy, policy negotiations and party unity. But he has a long track record of seeking bi-partisan compromise, and Republicans are opposing our every priority.
