The Tenant Organizing Center, the culmination of decades of housing organizing in Chicago, is launching in 2022! The Center will support seniors who want to organize a tenant association within their building as a way to respond to the needs of residents and staff. Staff and JASC Leaders will provide technical and logistical assistance to train and support power building for tenants living in senior housing.

Marsha was an inspiring leader and fighter for justice. She became involved in Jane Addams Senior Caucus/Jane Addams Seniors In Action by joining JASIA to elect Maria Hadden to Alderman in the 49th ward. Since that moment she has been a force within the organization, serving on both boards and on the housing committee. Marsha was instrumental in passing the Senior Safety Ordinance and an active leader on the campaign for a national Homes Guarantee.

Jane Addams Senior Caucus leaders joined Raise Up Illinois on Monday, May 17th for a Tax Day rally at the Chicago Board of Trade to demand the passage of 8 bills that nwill raise billions of dollars by ending tax breaks for big corporations and ultra-wealthy individuals.
JASC is fighting for the expansion of the community care program so seniors can receive the long term care support they need to age with dignity in their homes and communities.

On Thursday May 6th Jane Addams Senior Caucus brought together the next generation of visionary women leaders in a virtual discussion focused on the most pressing issues facing older women: housing, health care, family care, racial justice and economic insecurity.
